Rockcastle Regional's state-of-the-art surgery area renovation was completed in May 2009. The new suite is equipped with pre-operation and post-operation units and the physicians and nurses can now serve the patients and their families better than ever before. The department is nearly four times the size of the old.

The pre-op unit now features three beds which all provide access to the latest technologies to better serve our patients. Recovery is now completely separate - it features three beds and a private room for those needing an extended stay.

Our new surgical unit also brings a new operating room. The new operating room is nearly twice the side of the old. As construction continues, the previous room will be converted to be used for endoscopic procedures.

Computers are now easily accessed by nurses for charting medical information and scanning medication. Family members can now come to the pre-op and recovery areas because of the additional space.

Christian Knecht, M.D. and David Brabon, M.D. and University of Kentucky Gastroenterologists perform procedures that include: colonoscopy, gall bladder and appendix removal, hernia and endoscopy.
