Whether you are an avid runner, a diehard duathlete, or none of the above but eager to get started, Rockcastle Regional Hospital invites you to the second annual Run, Bike or Hike on August 27, 2011. This year's event includes the 2-Mile Fun Walk, 5K Run by the Lake and the Rockcastle Duathlon. Start time is 8 a.m. EST. The event is designed to promote community fitness, and to give Southern Kentuckians the opportunity to enjoy a morning by a beautiful lake and amidst the breathtaking countryside of Rockcastle County.

All events will begin at the Lake Linville Park & Recreational area. From I-75 exit 62, follow Richmond St./N. Wilderness Rd. to Lake Linville Rd. Follow approximately 1.9 miles.

This event would not be possible without the help of dozens of local volunteers and organizations. We'd also like to thank our sponsors: McDonalds, UK HealthCare, Mike's Hike and Bike, which will be donating mechanic services the day of the race, and Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, which is donating six $25 gift certificates.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Lexington, Ky. The Hope Lodge provides free overnight lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers.

Sorry, this is a pre-registration event only and registration is closed - no race day registration.

Duo

5K Run by the Lake

Up for your morning run? This scenic 5K offers a beautiful lakeside view, awards, a T-shirt and refreshments. Awards will be given to the overall male and female finisher and the top three male and female finishers in standard age divisions.

Participants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Water and refreshments provided.

Space limited to 80 runners.

Duo

Rockcastle Duathlon 2011

You'll start out with the 5K runners and walkers. When you finish your 5K, you'll transition directly into the 16.8 mile bike ride, then you'll go on a 2.2-mile run down the south side of Lake Linville, finishing back at the starting area. Awards will be given to the overall male and female finisher and to the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age divisions: 30-under, 31-45, and 46+. Water and refreshments provided. Participants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. (Participants must wear helmet during ride.)

Space limited to 60 duathletes.

Duo

2-Mile Fun Walk

Walkers will begin with the 5K runners and duathletes but will turn back at the one-mile mark for an out-and-back 2-miler. Enjoy the beauty of Lake Linville on a late summer morning and support a good cause! Participants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Water and refreshments provided.

Space limited to 60 walkers.
