Gymnastics

Rock Cheer and Tumbling Club offers gymnastics and cheer instruction to students of all ages. Instruction is divided between two levels: Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced. Beginner classes focus on front rolls, cartwheels, handstands, back bends, and basic skill instruction that will prepare students for back handsprings and more advanced tumbling skills. There are no skill requirements for the beginner class. The intermediate/advanced class focuses on advanced and connected skills such as round-offs, front walk-overs, standing back handsprings, round-off back handsprings, tucks, and layouts. Athletes in the intermediate/advanced class should be familiar with handsprings and should have a perfected cartwheel, back bend, and handstand.

Classes are taught by instructor, Joanie Alexander Lake. Joanie is nationally certified through USA Cheer and has been teaching gymnastics for the last fourteen years. She also coaches the cheerleading programs for Rockcastle Middle and High School, as well as Georgetown College.
