Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center will host a blessing ceremony for its new Safe Have Baby Box, located at the hospital, on Friday, November 14 at 1:00pm. The ceremony is open to the public.

The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a safe, anonymous option for parents in crisis to surrender newborns, ensuring the safety and well-being of infants in urgent situations. The box is a secure, temperature-controlled unit installed within the hospital. When a newborn is placed inside, hospital staff are immediately alerted so they can provide care to the infant. This system ensures that babies are safely received and monitored at all times.

Funding for this life-saving resource was generously provided by the Rockcastle County High School FCCLA, highlighting the commitment of young community leaders to supporting vulnerable families. Tammy Camel, FCCLA advisor, said, “We are incredibly happy and proud that our organization was able to provide funding for this important project. It is rewarding to know that our efforts will make a real difference in the lives of families in our community.”

Jana Bray, Community Relations Director at Rockcastle Regional, added, “We are so proud to work alongside FCCLA’s rising student leaders to help make their vision a reality. At Rockcastle Regional, we are committed to helping patients from all walks of life – no matter the circumstances they face – connect with the resources and care they need. This Safe Haven Baby Box is a perfect example of that mission in action.”

“We are honored to host this blessing and to make the Safe Have Baby Box available,” said Stephen A. Estes, president and CEO of Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center. “This box represents a proactive step in safeguarding infants and supporting families during difficult times.”

Monica Kelsey, founder and CEO of Safe Have Baby Boxes said, “We have seen time and time again that preparation can save and change lives. We never know when or where we will be needed, so it is crucial to have options for mothers in crisis. I am grateful for local advocates who take our mission to their community.”
