What is Epic?
Epic is a leading electronic health record (EHR) system used by many hospitals, physician offices, and healthcare organizations across the country. Epic helps your healthcare team securely manage your medical information and coordinate your care. MyChart is the patient portal through Epic, giving patients a secure way to manage your care in one place.
Why is Rockcastle Regional switching to Epic?
Our goal is to provide patients with a more connected, convenient healthcare experience. Epic and MyChart will offer improved access to your health information and help our providers coordinate your care more efficiently.
Can I access MyChart on my phone?
Yes. MyChart is available through the free MyChart mobile app for both Apple and Android devices.
When will MyChart become available?
MyChart is available now.
Will I still be able to use the current patient portal?
Yes. You will still be able to access the legacy patient portal (Your Care Community & eCW) until December 31, 2026 for information prior to June 27 only.
Will my information transfer to MyChart?
No. Your visit records and test results will not transfer to MyChart. Some information such as medications, allergies, immunizations will transfer, but may appear later as final updates are completed after June 27.
Is MyChart secure?
Yes. MyChart is a secure system that protects your personal health information and allows you to communicate safely with your care team.
Can I use MyChart for my family members?
Yes. MyChart allows you to manage care for family members, depending on access permissions. More details will be shared soon.
What if I don’t have a computer or smartphone?
You will still be able to receive care as you do today. MyChart is an additional option to make managing your care easier, but it is not required.
Can I still call my provider's office?
Absolutely. While MyChart offers convenient online options, patients may still call their provider's office for assistance.
Will appointments be affected during the transition?
Patients may notice slightly longer registration or appointment times during the first few weeks after implementation as staff become familiar with the new system.
We appreciate your patience during this important upgrade.
Will I still be able to get prescription refills?
Yes. Prescription refill requests will continue to be available. Once MyChart is active, many patients may find it easier to request refills online through MyChart.
Can I view my test results in MyChart?
Yes. Many test results will be available directly through MyChart once they have been reviewed and released according to provider and organizational policies.
